SHANTEWE - First day at School (ing)
I thought it would be interesting to show you the first step in teaching Shantewe how to jump. Through the series of video's below you can see how the filly progresses in a morning schooling.
Shantewe had not even seen a pole prior to the video's. So it really is starting from scratch.
Shantewe's first look at a pole. The idea is to just walk over it, she is third in the string behind Jamie's Hack Right Enough and another 4yo filly seeing them for the first time Marlow Moss. Marlow catches the poles and Shantewe doesn't like the noise, so she had a bit of a time out.
Having a time out watching the other two school. But if at first you don't succeed....
This time she's walked over the poles by Jamie, progress.
She tries it by herself, with a little encouragement from Jamie
Her first jump, nails it.
This time she's set to go over a bigger obstacle but she's so observant and notices the new addition of a white box under the pole.
So we go back to a smaller jump
This time a bigger jump which she just catches the top of
And finally a cat-like clearance, could be watching Buveur D'Air.
Things continue to go as planned with Shantewe, she's doing plenty of work on the grass over a mile. Next up will be 2 miles over the historic bowl gallop probably this week prior to her racecourse gallop at Newbury on the 4th March.
